John Paszek passed away on April 27, 2016 in Kila Montana from natural causes at the age of 92. He was born December 17, 1923 in Middletown, CT to John A. and Mary Catherine Paszek. John attended school in Middletown and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. He served with distinction during WWII with the Navy and later as an instructor with the U.S. Marine Corps for hand-to-hand combat. He had extensive experience as a professional boxer and was a martial arts expert. John was assigned to Fallon NAS for a period during WWII and returned to Nevada at war's end to start a 30+ year career in law enforcement. During this time he worked for the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Reno Police Department and the Washoe County Sherrif's Department.
John was a long-time member of the Reno YMCA, teaching womens self-defense, martial arts and hunter safety classes. He was a world-class handball player. John was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. After retirement he moved to northern Montana to pursue his outdoor interests.
He is survived by his second wife of 17 years, daughters Trish (Scott) Seher, Mary (Todd Schacht) Paszek and sons Tom (Julie) Paszek, Mike Paszek & Matt Paszek, grandchildren Scott, Ryan & Thomas Kinney; Devin, Danica Paszek Nathan, Zachary, Amanda, Kara, Jarick, Breanna, Madison Paszek; and one great grandchild Samuel Kinney; brother Fred Paszek, sister Betty Cochran & numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his first wife of 54 years Patricia (Tish) Paszek, grandson Christian Seher, brother Edward and sisters Stefanie, Stella and Helen.
No service is planned.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing this great man.....I cherish our conversations we had and my father had the utmost respect and admiration for him as well since they both worked together at the Washoe County Sheriff's Department.....God has another LEO warrior in Heaven with John taking up his duties there now. God bless him for being the person he was and for being a "cop's cop!" Cheri, myself and the Handte family send our condolences and prayers to the entire Paszek family at this most difficult time

I always felt secure knowing John Paszek was at the helm of our Sheriff's Station at Incline Village. He was a good and compassionate man.
