1951 - 2019 Obituary Condolences
Alvin Randarth Jiggetts Obituary

Mr. Alvin Randarth Jiggetts peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.  He was surrounded with love and comfort by family and friends.

Born on March 25, 1951 in South Hill, Virginia, Randarth was the eldest child to the union of the late Alvin Roosevelt Jiggetts and Gladys L. (Cypress) Jiggetts.  He attended Park View High School until deciding to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Master Brick Mason. Some of his work can be found throughout the Richmond Region, as well as the entire east coast.  As a matter of fact, he helped construct Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia.

At an early age, Randarth joined Bethel Memorial RZUA in his hometown. After relocating to the Greater Richmond Region, he joined Bethesda Baptist Church where he was an active member of the R.H. Jones, Jr. Male Chorus.  In more recent years, he enjoyed attending the weekly afternoon church services at his residence. He also looked forward to first Sunday visits from the Diaconate of The Saint Paul’s Baptist Church.

Whether you knew him as Randarth, G-Bo, Yank, Mr. Jiggetts or Daddy, everyone can agree that he was a sociable person who enjoyed life and emphasized that you’re only as old as you think.  To those who crossed his path, he stressed the importance of having faith, to be yourself, and to never quit. He was also a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing lessons that he learned along the way in an authentic manner.

Other than his parents, Randarth was preceded in death by his brothers, George Lee and Michael Wayne Jiggetts; his sister, Saundra Jiggetts Thompson; and his nephew, Ryan Lamont Jiggetts.  Randarth leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters: Shelly Jiggetts, Maria Pryor, and Chantel Turner (devoted); three sons: DeMarcus Walker, Rancell Jiggetts, and Tobias Estes; one sister, Veronica “Ronnie” Jiggetts; two sisters-in-law, Norma R. Jiggetts and Jocelyn Jiggetts; nine grandchildren; a devoted friend and caregiver, Sherone Turner; a devoted classmate, Jo Anne Robinson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 15, 2019 in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA. The interment will be private.
