Debra Ellis Obituary

On Friday, November 2, 2018, our loved one, Ms. Debra Meade Ellis, saddened our hearts as she transitioned to glory at her residence.  She was born on December 8, 1969 to Mrs. Sallie Meade Tucker and Mr. Calvin Taylor.  At an early age, Debra was baptized and joined First Baptist Church of Jarratt, VA.

She attended Sussex Central High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1988.  Debra was a very independent woman and worked very hard throughout her life.  She was previously employed with The Hon Company in Chester, VA, the Antioch Company in Colonial Heights, VA, Stamptech of Georgia, and Hunter Douglas in Georgia.

Many people knew Debra to be a very serious, but outgoing person.  She had a very quiet spirit, but yet a loud laugh that would bring joy to anyone who was around.

Debra was preceded in death by her two grandmothers, Nellie Meade and Elenora Spratley; two grandfathers, George Meade and Cleveland Lacey; one great grandmother, Mert Taylor; two aunts, Mildred M. Prosise and Sadie Holloway; three uncles, King Meade, Wesley Meade and Robert Meade.

She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memories:  a devoted and loving daughter, Ronisha Brown; devoted mother, Sallie Meade Tucker; devoted father, Calvin Taylor; devoted step-father, Wayne Tucker; as well as her devoted godmother, Shirley Meade.

She also leaves her memories with her two sisters, Zebrina Meade of Atlanta, GA, and Latisha Clanton of Colonial Heights, VA; two brothers, Kendrick Bonner of Petersburg, VA, and Steven Day of Richmond, VA; a devoted aunt, Mary Meade; devoted niece, Lyric Meade; devoted nephew, Keith Perry; devoted cousins, Sheila Brown of Petersburg, VA, and Pamela Phillips of Jarratt, VA; devoted friend, Ramonde Cummings of College Park, GA; the parents of her daughter’s father, Mrs. Della and Mr. Norman Brown of Petersburg, VA; and a host other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 18501 Little Mill Road, Jarratt, VA, the Rev. George Mayes, pastor, the Rev. Dr. Bobby Taylor,  eulogist.  The interment to follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will assemble 12:00 Noon the day of the service and will receive friends at 1139 W. Wythe Street, Petersburg, VA.
