Harold Richard Kazanchy

HAROLD RICHARD KAZANCHY Passed into the hands of the Lord on October 15, 2017 in Chester, Virginia after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Harry, or Mr. K. as he was known to many, was predeceased by his father, Jacob Kazanchy, his mother, Florence, his eldest brother, Thomas, and his youngest brother, Cordius Paul, O.F.M. Harry served in the Seabees division of the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged on January 22, 1946. He and his two brothers, also Navy personnel, were reunited by total coincidence on Okinawa toward the end of the war in the Pacific. After returning home from his tour of duty, he met and married the love of his life, Eleanor (n/a Papio) of Lodi, New Jersey. Harry and his "Sunshine" recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. After the war ended, Harry's electrical career began with Curtiss-Wright in South Hackensack, NJ and ended as a well-respected electrical contractor and inspector. In addition to his love of all things mechanical, he also enjoyed woodworking, crafts, painting, bowling and baseball. His love for his wife and children was always prominent in his life. Harry was a warm, kind, lighthearted, humorous individual who became a friend to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will always miss you, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. May God always raise you up and let you soar on Eagles wings. Harry is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 69 years, his son, Jeffrey Kazanchy and wife Sondra; his daughter, Elaine Rastocky and son-in-law Robert Rastocky; his daughter, Catherine Carstensen and son-in-law, James Carstensen; his grandchildren, Robert, Daniel and Matthew Rastocky, Brian Kazanchy and Laura Ruby; great grandchildren, Isabella and Amanda Ruby, Madelyn, Robert and Thomas Rastocky, Isla and Freya Kazanchy. Donations may be made to the Hunter-McGuire Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia in particular to the Palliative/Hospice Care. The family thanks the wonderful, caring staff who so attended to Harry's needs. Harry's visitation will be on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by his Life Celebration at 11:00 a.m. at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd.
