Stephen Edward VanCleef Obituary
Stephen Edward Van Cleef, Jr., 75, of Midlothian, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Although he suffered from dementia, he remained an active and joyful participant of life until an illness weakened him in his final weeks. His bride of 50 years, Sandy Van Cleef, took loving care of him at home.

He is preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Louise Van Cleef, sister Frances Watson, and brother Gary. His wife, daughter Gwendolyn Eungard and son-in-law Brad Eungard, and their children Adam (16), Eleanor (14), Amelia (12), and Owen (8) live on to celebrate his life.

Steve was a proud Navy veteran (1962-1964), serving on the USS Mt. McKinley during the Cuban Missile Crisis blockade. After returning home to attend college at Richmond Professional Institute (later Virginia Commonwealth University), he worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation as a civil engineer for nearly 50 years. Steve was a NASCAR enthusiast, an antique hunter, and an active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, which he attended faithfully from childhood until his death.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, at 10:00 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church (18100 Genito Rd., Moseley, VA 23120). A funeral service will follow at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mount Hermon Baptist Church Youth Fund.
