Jack M. Kreuter

| Send Sympathy Card KREUTER, Jack M., On October 9, 2015, Jack M. Kreuter peacefully passed away. Born in Brooklyn February 18, 1936, his move to Washington, D.C. at age 13 found him loving D.C. as he did New York. After obtaining his degree in Journalism from American University, he then moved to Richmond, a city he grew to love, support and make his home. As a officer in the U.S. Air National Guard, Jack was activated for the Berlin Crisis of 1961. Jack is survived by his wife, Barbara Kreuter; and children, Wendy Kreuter (Kenny Salken), Shari Kreuter (Mark Layburn), Laura Olson (Peter) and Michael Nemeth (Marlene Wong). He adored and is adored by his grandchildren, Kaitlin Hiers, Elise Salken, Isabel Salken, Jeremy Salken, Zachary Olson, Luke Olson and Sophia Nemeth-Wong. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Kreuter; his father, Abraham Kreuter; and his granddaughter, Victoria Hiers. He enjoyed a 55-year career as a jeweler, first as president at Schwarzschild Jewelers and then owner of Jack Kreuter Jewelers. He relished creating beautiful memories for generations of his customers and sharing his love of unique gemstones. A dedicated community supporter, Jack was a past recipient of the Jewish Community Federation William B. Thalhimer Young Leadership Award and served as president.
