If Heaven exists I´d like to spend eternity riding my bicycle with Randy
April 24, 2018
Not sure anyone will get this, but wanted to add my condolences. It has been a few years since Randy and I last spoke, so I was not aware of his passing. Randy and I met while we were both obtaining our Undergraduate Biology Degrees from VCU in the late 70's. Randy was an Army Veteran and I was a Navy Veteran, both of us taking advantage of the last vestiges of the old GI Bill program. We used to sign up for the same classes, especially the Botany and Summer Flora classes with Dr. Johnson. We had lunch every day and talked about how our Burger King French Fries were being converted into energy at the cellular level (potential test questions for class). When it was Randy's turn to drive us to lunch, he would always start the car and let it sit a few minutes explaining how important it was to let the oil get up into the engine before driving off. Not sure if this practice is still necessary in today's high tech automobiles, but to this day, I still sit in my car for a while with the motor running, with Randy's oil instructions ringing in my ears like a dashboard warning bell, before driving off on my errands. After our VCU graduation in the '79 to '80 timeframe, Randy was off to Dental School and I was off to Ohio to begin my own career in the Healthcare Industry, so we had one more dinner together to wish each other well. We spoke by phone again in the early 2000's to discuss the progress VCU had been making with its Biology Department and then lost touch with each other. I have wonderful memories of our friendship at VCU and am so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers to Randy's family and friends.

To Katy, Debbie and all who knew Randy: My thoughts and sincerest prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Randy was the second oldest of the 12 cousins in our family. Randy was like a second older brother to me. He was also so sweet to me and in recent years (in addition to seeing him at family reunions), he would find time to visit with me when he came to Atlanta for the Hinman Dental Convention and also when he and Katy came to Atlanta for another convention. We would meet for lunch or dinner and share memories of family times and he would keep me in stiches with his laughs. He loved his family so much. So much so, that he even discussed the cousins, spouses and children when his staff was also with us for dinner. He took a picture of the order, connections, names of all of the children, etc. He was one special guy and it is a several loss to lose him way before his time. Love, Susan Baldwin (4th in line of 12 Rosemond cousins)
