Brenda Bickerstaff-Stanley, 70, of Rockville, Virginia, died peacefully at home on January 5, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry Bickerstaff Jr.(Bootie) and Pauline Bloxton Bickerstaff. She is survived by her husband, Dennis D. Stanley, of Rockville; son, Robert Daniel Stanley, and his wife Katherine, of Charlottesville; son, Christopher James Stanley, and his fiancée Amie Gathright, of New Kent; and grandchildren, Lane Underwood, Brant Stanley, Dylan Underwood, Chesney Stanley, and Paisley Stanley. She is also survived by her siblings, Janet Bickerstaff Dykes, and her husband, Hank; James Henry Bickerstaff III (Jim); John Wayne Bickerstaff and his wife, Janit; and Kenneth Michael Bickerstaff. Brenda was an accomplished fine artist, known for acrylic, watercolor and oil paintings depicting her local surroundings and international travels. She received local, regional, and national recognitions. Her works were featured locally at For Art's Sake Gallery and Crossroads Art Center and can be found on display in businesses throughout the Richmond area.
