GIBSON, Wesley Cullen, was born on September 29, 1959 in Mobile, Alabama, and died December 4, 2016 in San Francisco, California. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Gibson; and his grandmothers, Virginia Gibson and Flora Bell. He is survived by his mother, Jean Bell Dickey; his sisters, Deborah D. Batten (Tom), Karen R. Clowers (Darrell); and his brother, Michael W. Dickey (Melody); seven nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Wesley was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and Brown University. He joined St. Mary's College in 2005 and taught in the English Department and in the MFA in Creative Writing program. A gifted and accomplished writer, he was the author of the memoir "You Are Here" and the novels, "Shelter" and "Personal Saviors." He's written several stories, articles, reviews and had staged readings. Wesley's stories have appeared in The Village Voice and the Mississippi Review, among other places, and his art criticism appeared in The New Art Examiner. He was also an editor for the Literary Journal Bloom....

Wes was a good friend ,met m in high school . always writing short stories which were amazing to read. He had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun and most of all carry on intelligent conversation. A very unique man with a big heart and understanding of his surroundings and the people close to him.
