Mary B. Mader, 65, of 306 Little Ave., Ridgway, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born Jan. 1, 1952 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Bernard K. and Edith M. (Marzella) Carlson. She married James R. Steele in May of 1972, he preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1996; she then married Robert L. Mader on Sept. 20, 2000 and he survives.
She resided in Ridgway all her life and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Church Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Ridgway Fire Department Auxiliary, volunteer for Christmas Day Happening and a member of the Fox Township Senior Center. She had been employed by Elk County General Hospital, Alltel for 22 years and the Elk County 911 Center for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Mader of Ridgway; one son, Wayne T. Steele of Ridgway; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, James R. Steele.
A memorial service for Mary B. Mader will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. There will be no visitation. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Elk County Humane Society or to the Ridgway Ambulance Corp. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
