Grant William Sitzler, 92, of the Dyllis community, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2018 at Parkwest Medical Center.
Grant was born on May 13, 1926, in Loudon County. On Dec. 5, 1945, Grant married the love of his life, Margaret Brandy, and they were married for 60 years. In 1952, Margaret and Grant moved to the Dyllis community, and he began work with Union Carbide at the Gaseous Diffusion Plant. Grant worked at K-25 for 36 years. He and Margaret became members of Dyllis Baptist Church shortly after arriving in Dyllis and were lifelong members. Grant served many years as a church deacon. Grant was an avid fisherman and expert gardener.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis Sitzler; and his wife, Margaret.
He is survived by daughters, Brenda Fox and husband Ted, Louisville, and Linda Torres and husband Buddy, Rosenburg, Texas; sons, Bill Sitzler and wife Janet, Lenoir City, and Jim Sitzler and wife Linda, Englewood; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. The family wants to express deep appreciation to the staff of Madisonville Health and Rehab for their compassionate and expert care.
The family received friends at Premier Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs, from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 28, with funeral services following with Pastor James Griffith and Pastor Steve Strickland officiating. A graveside service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Dyllis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Dyllis Baptist Church Building Fund, 530 Dyllis Road, Harriman, TN 37748.
