James "Lyle" Ensey, 91, of Harriman, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, peacefully at his home.
Lyle was a member of Kerbela Shrine Temple of Knoxville, Masonic South Gate Lodge 569 for 60 years, Local 102 Pipefitters Union for 69 years, a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army and a lifetime member of VFW Post 6598. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend always willing to help anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jimmie Fay Ensey; brothers, Howard and Charlie Ensey; sister, Mildred Caruthers; and grandson, Chris Ensey.
He is survived by wife of 67 years, Gerry Ensey; daughter, Karen Ensey Beaty (Mike); son, Chesley Ensey (Jennifer); sister, Irma Labreche; granddaughters, Chelsea Ensey McCombs (Luke), daughter of Kathy Ensey Dial and Bailey White; grandsons, Alex and Austin White; great-grandson, Elliott Lyle Grizzle; and fellow U.S. Army veteran and lifelong friend J.C. Poole.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Kyker Funeral Home, Harriman, with Bro. Ronnie Stockton officiating. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in Roane Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to VFW Post 6598, 195 Tub Springs Rd., Harriman, TN.
