Graveside services and interment for Mary Ruth Dunn, 94, of Knoxville and formerly of Kingston, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood. The Rev. Glenna Manning, minister at Concord United Methodist Church in Knoxville, will officiate. Her family will receive friends following services at the cemetery.
She died Tuesday afternoon Jan. 1, 2019 in Knoxville.
Mary Ruth was born Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1924 in Putnam County to the late John Alexander and Nancy "Nannie" Mellissa Sparks Pugh.
Mary Ruth was a homemaker and a graduate of Monterey High School. She gave all those who were blessed to know her the gift of her smile. Her humor, her "never met a stranger" attitude, and her love of family remained a constant throughout her life. She was a strong, beautiful woman with a resilient, impressive, and ageless spirit that taught all of us how to live with radiant joy.
She will be missed here, but surely Heaven is having a party to celebrate her Homecoming.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. "Tom" Dunn; brother, Donald Pugh; and sister, Elizabeth Walker.
Survivors include her sons, Mike Dunn (Geraldine) of Toronto, Canada, Pat Dunn (Linda) of Kingston, and Mark Dunn (Stephanie) of Knoxville; grandchildren, Nathan Dunn (Erin), Michael Dunn (Karen), Devyn and Dylan Dunn; great grandchildren, Brenda Dunn (Sarah), Kacey and Jacob Dunn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: ALS Association, Tennessee Chapter PO Box 40244 Nashville, TN 37204-0244.
