ROBERT H. KUHLMEIER, 85 ROCKFORD - Robert H. Kuhlmeier, 85, of Rockford died at 9:09 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Wesley Willows Retirement Center. Born July 24, 1923, in Rockford, the son of Elmer H. and Annie Poole Kuhlmeier. Bob served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II and was a proud member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He graduated from Babson College in Boston in 1946. He and his wife, Marge, moved to White Dog, Ontario, Canada, and raised rice for a time before moving back to Rockford, where he owned Kuhlmeier Hearing Aid Co. for 30 years. He also started "Linda's Little Listeners" at Court Street Church using cochlear implant technology for the hearing impaired. Bob was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, Alpine Kiwanis Club and SCORE. Survivors include his sons, Mark (Janie) Kuhlmeier of Loves Park and Kenneth (Sharon) Westland of Saginaw, Mich., and Naples, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann Westland and Jim Zart of Florida; nephews, Fred, John and Robert Goheen of Colorado; grandson, Joe Tiffany, and granddaughter, Amber Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Olivia Daves; his beloved dog, "Moose"; and several cousins in the Freeport area. Also survived by his former wife, Sandra Kuhlmeier. Preceded in death by his wives, Marge Kuhlmeier, Eileen Kuhlmeier and Dorothy Westland Kuhlmeier; as well as his sisters, Florence Goheen and Doris Ritter. Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, in Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court St., with Pastor Keith Kelsey-Powell officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.
