David FEILING Obituary

FEILING, Sr., David Ross
Entered into eternal peace on August 9, 2012, in Roseville, CA, and joins his beloved wife, Dolores. He was born to John M. Feiling and Dora I. Feiling at home in the Hagginwood area of Sacramento, where he grew up and lived for over 60 years before moving to Rocklin, where he lived for 27 years. He was 87 years old and died of natural causes. He attended Hagginwood School and was a graduate of Grant High School, class of 1943. He then went to Grant Technical College (which is now American River College). His first job was at Harry's Feed and Grain store on Del Paso Blvd. when he was a sophomore in high school. He was a member of the Project Area Committee which assisted the Redeveloped Agency and was involved in getting curb, gutters, and street lightening in the Hagginwood and Del Paso Heights area of Sacramento. He was active in many Community Events. He was a member of the Rancho Del Paso Historical Society and the Grant Union Alumni Association. He was a great conversationalist and remembered historical events like it was yesterday. He attended McClellan AFB for the dedication and groundbreaking and closing of the base, and numerous air shows and open houses that the base hosted. He was also present for the opening ceremonies of the McClellan Air Museum. He would tell the family how he was working at McClellan Field and saw the first jet engine airplanes land at the base. He loved visiting with everyone and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was employed by the California Almond Growers Exchange (as was his father), now known as Blue Diamond Growers, for over 40 years and retired as the Director of Engineering. He then worked for Walmart Stores Inc. at the Rocklin store and then at the Pleasant Grove Blvd. store for 19 years until his death. He was known as 'Greeter Dave' at the Garden Center. He is survived by daughter, Christine L. Reeves, her husband Bill, and grandson Michael; son, David R. Feiling, Jr., his wife Peggy, and grandchildren Bill, Ashley, and Natalie; brother Wayne and his wife Pat; sister Jo Ann Levine; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, James Feiling. He wanted to thank all the staff at Kaiser Permanente for all their great care he received and especially Dr. Krawiec, Dr. Lanterman, Dr. Yuan, Juana Lee RN, and Sharon Fall RN, who were so kind and caring at his last hospital stay; thank you so much. Friends are welcome to attend celebration of life event on Friday, August 24, 2012, at noon at the Calvary Cemetery in the chapel, 7101 Verner Ave., Sacramento, CA 95 841. Dave~ We have loved getting to know you these past 6 1/2 years that we have been neighbors and friends. The entire family really enjoyed your company and our conversations with you, meeting up at the mailbox and walking with you. You were such a sharp, kind, witty and wonderful man. You are missed by all who knew you and your memory and spirit live on. The neighborhood will never be the same without you but your spirit remains. Rest in peace friend.
