Dear Brad, Kayla and Tyler, I was just made aware of Carmen's passing. I was so shocked and saddened by the news. I have fond memories of dear Carmen through the hockey years. She was so full of life and enjoyed our many conversations. She was a great inspiration to me when my Mom was so sick and I will always remember her kind words. The world has lost a great lady. You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Brad and family,
I remember in elementary school how Carmen and I would spend many hours practicing Gymnastics. Way back then I knew Carmen would be a beautiful person and she sure fulfilled her goals. When I spoke with her at our highschool reunion she was a beautiful as ever in body and spirit. She spoke a lot about you two kids and I could tell that she had reached the most important goal of her life in having both of you and a loving marriage to you Brad. I am so sorry for your loss and have been thinking about her great laugh since I heard the news. All my love from a school friend.

I have much sadness in the loss of my daughter Carmen. I had looked so forward to spending many more years with her. I always loved her personality, laughter and the full life she insisted on living. She loved people and shared herself totally with them. It amazed me how she accepted her fate and dealt with it with so much grace. The loss of her has left a very empty place in my life but she will always remain in my heart. She was a special girl and I will love to see her again one day.
She will brighten the light in eternal life.
I miss you Carmen

Dear Brad, Kayla and Tyler

After hearing about Carmens passing, I felt overcome with disbelief and then great sadness. It is the unthinkable when one of the most vibrant, enthusiastic, feisty, and beautiful girls I have met has been taken away so suddenly. Although I may not have known Carmen well or for very long, I did admire her complete zest for life and her determination to pack up her family and move to California. I am certain she had so many great accomplishments because Carmen could do more in a day than some people could do in a year. May she rest in peace. Our hearts are heavy and our thoughts are with you Brad, Kayla and Tyler. Be Strong!! The Ross Family (Rose & Bryan, Nicholas, Tyler and Adam)

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time in your lives. The Griffith, McKernan & McKenzie families have lost a treasured loved one. Carmen was a wonderful wife to Brad and such a loving and supportive mother to Kayla and Tyler. She was very close with her sister Sandra and brother Keith who I know will miss her dearly as we all will. Also to all her many friends and extended family, i'm sorry for your loss.
I will never forget Carmen being their to support and comfort me and my family in our time of need after losing my father only 15 months ago. She showed her true love for the family and helped us realize that life here is just the beginning. Her being there meant the world to us & we will never forget. Keep your memories close, as she will always be with you. This reminds us how delicate life is and how lucky we are to have eachother, embrace your families and those we still have. Her spirit will never fade and I know Carmen will hold a spot for all of us there beside her so that we all may meet again. Rest well Carmen and thank you for the gift that you were.

I remember years ago when we were driving out to the lake near Edmonton with Carmen and Sandra in the back seat laughing and singing "Brand New Key" over and over almost the entire way. We were very fortunate to have very close extended families back in the earlier years, giving an abundance of opportunity to enjoy fun times like this with Carmen.

I express my heartfelt sympathy to Carmen's own family, Brad, Kayla and Tyler, her father Gord Mckenzie (and family), her mother, Kathy Mckenzie, her sister Sandra Mckernan (and family), brother Keith, and other close friends who were fortunate to know Carmen.

In a way I am jealous of Carmen, because she is in Heaven with family and friends who have already left us.
Please keep the "Welcome Mat" out for when the rest of us slowly join the party up there to be with all of you again.

The loss of an individual like Carmen is one that will be felt deeply by many. I have many happy memories of my childhood and time spent with my cousin and her sister Sandra and brother Keith. Many of these memories involve Carmen and her dreams of a happy marriage and being a mom. Her time with us was much too short, but her dreams came true with her life with Brad and their beautiful children. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, Carmen's mom (Kathy) and dad (Gordon), sister Sandra and her family and her brother Keith. We hope that with time, the sorrow will ease and that the wonderful memories of Carmen will remain in your heart and minds.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this note. I haven't seen Carmen in years, but she was family and in my family that is everything. My heart is breaking for Brad and their children. They are way too young to have to deal with this enormous loss. God bless you all. May He give you the strength you need to get through the difficult days. Try and think of her as we do the stars. We don't always see them, but we know they are there. Celebrate her life and remember her fondly tomorrow and always. Wish we could be there to support you.

Carmen was a big part of my life while growing up in Edmonton. I babysat the kids on many occasions and found Carmen to be this petite quiet little girl. As with many other extended families; I married and Carmen and Brad eventually moved to California where we lost touch with each other on a regulatr basis. I always knew how important children and family were to Carmen. While watching her grow up I had no idea she would become the incredible wife and Mom she was; along with her zest for life.
I am blessed she was a part of my life and am proud to be her Aunt.
My deepest condolences go out to the Griffith family, Sandra McKernan and family, her mother Kathy McKenzie who loved her dearly, her brother Keith, and her father Gord McKenzie and his wife .
I will be proud to share in her celebration of life in Edmonton as she was an incredible lady. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers especially this Friday. I send much love.
