Ron was a great guy and a great boss- kind, calm, generous, and smart. Ron always made time for people, had an open door policy, and really listened to us. He wanted people to succeed. I went to Ron for advice and solutions to convoluted Contracting issues. Even in situations that seemed really serious, Ron would arrive at good solutions and would maintain his great sense of humor. I always felt that Ron respected me and I respected him in turn. I always tried to live up to the trust that Ron showed in us. I have fond memories of my time at the Corps of Engineers working for Ron Miller!
Whenever I see a bicyclist riding on the American River bike trail I will think of Ron and smile because of my fond memories of the kind of person that Ron was.

I regret that I will not be able to attend the services for Ron as I now live out-of-state. His passing leaves me saddened, but also very grateful that I had the opportunity to work for him for several years. He very patiently mentored me from very green intern to first time supervisor and contracting officer. I was admittedly better with policy than people, and I can remember his frequent sage advice to make business decisions with your head, but people decisions with your heart. That says everything about Ron: He had a big heart. He always saw the best in people and worked to help them reach their full potential. The many people he supervised that went on to reach high levels in their careers attests to that. I am thankful for the knowledge he imparted about contracting, but more so the life lessons he taught: to maintain your sense of humor, to not take yourself too seriously, to be willing to take chances, to be kind and compassionate. He was a very good man. I won't forget him. Sincerely, Wanda

Such sad news about the passing of my former boss! He was a good person, always positive and supportive and someone I looked up to and appreciated every day!

The world lost a good person and will be a little less bright ...

I will miss him ...
