Andres "Andy" Toscano passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on July 29th 2018. Andy was born in Mexico City in 1932 to Augustina and Jose Toscano; the eldest of 11 siblings. At the age of 18, Andy left Mexico in search of a better life and arrived in Brentwood, CA. There he worked as a farm worker, harvesting fruits and vegetables. In 1956, Andy enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed in Europe, serving in the Southern European Task Force (SETAF) branch at Vicenza, Italy. In between military exercises, he played soccer with the SETAF "Lions," touring throughout Italy doing what he enjoyed most. In 1957, he met his wife to be, Lina in the small town of Calvene. After an honorable discharge from the US Army, Andy settled in San Francisco, where Lina joined him from Italy shortly after and they got married and raised their 3 children. He worked as an auto painter until his retirement, when he and Lina moved to Carmichael, CA. Andy was a devout Catholic, who served in his church weekly. He gave of his time volunteering with the Senior Gleaners collecting food to feed the poor and elderly. Andy enjoyed traveling with his wife and family throughout Mexico, Europe, and the Middle East. His passion for soccer led him to coaching youths in San Francisco for the PAL and FLAME leagues. He stayed healthy, exercising daily at his local gym. Family meant every thing to Andy. His happiest times were spent with family, especially his grandchildren, enjoying a good meal and playing dominoes. Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years of marriage, Lina. Andy is survived by his daughter Jean and son-in-law Frank Gonzalez of Fair Oaks, CA, son Michael and daughter-in-law Tracy of Fair Oaks, CA, daughter Nancy and son-in-law Jenno Morson of San Anselmo, CA, "adopted" daughter, Estela Espinosa of Sacramento, CA, three grandchildren, Jessica, Massimo and Francesca and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 10th at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Carmichael, CA.
