Much loved Carolyn Villarreal, 12/5/1921- 1/11/2018, went to be present with her Lord and Savior Jesus. She loved her God and she loved those God put in her in her life. She was gentle, kind and generous. Carolyn was a Sacramento area resident for about 62 years. She was preceded to heaven by her beloved husband, Gil, in 2002. Carolyn is survived by syblings, Martha, Joel, Azeneth, Homer and Rachel; sons, Michael and Timothy; grandchildren, Vanessa, Maida, Gil, Hannah, and Noah; great- grandchildren, Oskar, Moritz, Leo, Felix and Thea. Carolyn was born to Miguel and Paz Mojica in Uvalde, Texas. She was raised in the admonition of God's Word, the Bible, in a home full of love. Carolyn humbly accepted Jesus, the Messiah, into her heart and she walked in faith daily, trusting God through the ups and downs of life. Carolyn loved music and played the piano utilizing her talent at church and at schools where she taught. She loved teaching children and retired from the Sacramento City Unified School District after a career spanning 40 years, having taught approximately 1200 children to read and write. Mom and dad had a loving 47 year marriage together. Carolyn and her husband Gil raised their children in a home filled with love of which there are myriad beautiful memories and a strong foundation for their son's to begin their own journeys. Her love and commitment to Gil, her husband, always shone powerfully, as God gave her strength; she gently and lovingly cared for dad through years of his debilitating illness until his death did them part. Mom loved opening her home to host large family gatherings making sure that everyone was comfortable and especially, well fed. In humbleness and human frailty, mom reflected God's love, peace and joy and she encouraged others to find happiness through faith in Jesus too. Carolyn, through the years, along with her husband Gil, supported Christian work in various ways which included their church (Calvary Baptist, Arcade, River City Christian), the Union Gospel Mission (outreach to homeless), Evangelistic Ambassadors (retreat ministry, on-line Bible study), and the Gideons International (distributing the Bible in almost every country in the world). A memorial celebration for Carolyn Villarreal will take place Saturday February 24, 2018 at 10:30am at River City Christian Church, 10933 Progress Court, Rancho Cordova.
