Frederick Petrie Obituary

PETRIE, FREDERICK
BERTRAM
Of Ramona, CA passed away Monday, July 22, 2002. He was born June 4, 1926 in Logansport, IN to Edward Paul Petrie and Mae Genedolyn Rush Petrie. He was a US Army veteran 1944-1946 (Asiatic Pacific Theatre) & attended Los Angeles University, Indiana University & Van Norman University, receiving a BA in Applied Education, and a BA Law Masters of Law (MA). He was a member of Society of American Engineers, Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He spent 35 years in the aerospace industry as an aerospace engineer, working for North American Rockwell Int'l and finishing his career at Aerojet. He developed a process for fabricating exotic materials into near perfect shapes (without structural decline) by his innovative method of "explosive forming". His process has contributed to the successful manufacture and performance of liquid rocket engines, which is still in use today. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Petrie; daughters, Leesa Linn Petrie of San Francisco; son, Erich Todd Petrie of Honolulu, HI; stepdaughters, Valerie Carter of Poway, CA, Amanda Wilson of Ramona, CA and Barbara McAdams of Denver, CO; stepson, Richard Perrelli of Chico, CA; 6 step-grandchildren; sister, Doris Dooley of Austin, TX. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 11:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Ramona, CA with interment at Dearborne Memorial Park in Poway, CA.
