Glenn Takai, loving husband, father, sweetest of friends passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018 with his family by his side. Preceded in death by his father, Larry; and mother, Meiko; and brother, Loren. Born in Sacramento on January 22, 1947 into the postwar Japanese American experience, Glenn lived through hardship and loss at a young age. He was able to find peace and meaning first through his lifelong pursuit of ceramic art, and then later through his family with his wife, Kathleen and sons, Judd and Tait. He turned to art as a way to learn discipline and self-expression. He immersed himself into making art, evolving through his educational journey from Sacramento City College to CSUS receiving his B.A. and M.A. and then receiving his M.F.A from UC Davis. Over the course of a 50-year art career, the way his work paralleled his life helps provide a rich understanding of who he was and what motivated him. Glenn always looked for the humor in things, living the 'funk' philosophy through life as well as art. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th Street, Sacramento on January 19 at 11:00 a.m. Reception following at 1:30 p.m. at the John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 1st Street, Davis, CA 95616.
