Isao Yamamoto (1931 - 2018)

Isao was born on January 18, 1931 in Sacramento, CA and sadly passed away at age 87 on May 11, 2018. In 1937 his family moved to Madison where he spent his next five years in a one room school. At the age of 12 his family was sent to the Amache Internment Camp in Grenada, CO. After his interment, he was moved to Minnesota where he lived with his brother Tom. From there he returned to Winters, CA where he completed his high school education at Esparto High. Beginning in 1946, Isao served in the Army (82nd Airborne) in World War II. After returning from his service, he spent many years working on his Uncle Scotty's farm. From there he moved back to Sacramento where he was introduced to his soon to be wife Tomi by his best friend Sam. He dedicated 27 years to his career working at Sacramento City Unified School District until he retired in 1997. Isao was the loving husband of the late Tomi Yamamoto. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tots and Yosh Yamamoto. Isao is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Evanko (Yamamoto); son, Jim Yamamoto; brother, Tom Yamamoto; sister, Toy Hatanaka; and grandchildren Randy Leal and Tyler Yamamoto. Isao's hobbies included fishing, bingo, slot machines, gardening and spending time with close family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Funeral will be held at the Koyason Temple, 1400 U St at 4pm on Sunday May 20th.
