Joe Urokogata passed away peacefully on August 14, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born on September 10, 1929 to Kamekichi and Hatsu Urokogata in Florin, California. He was preceded in death by his wife Hisashi (2010). He is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Kajioka (Randy), granddaughter, Sydney, sisters Agnes Shimosaka, Lucy Akiyama, Peggy Ohara (Shig), Chiyeko Okamoto (Eddie), Setsuko Shono (Yoneo) and brother in law, Sam Matsumoto. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. During World War II, Joe was interned at the Manzanar and Tule Lake relocation camps. Joe graduated from Elk Grove High School and was employed by the State of California for the Department of Fish and Game as a Material and Stores Supervisor for 36 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed going to the local casinos and watching sports events. Per Joe's wishes a private family service was held at the Sacramento Buddhist Church.
