Karl J. Schnetz was born on February 26, 1935 and passed away on July 22, 2018 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife Susan A. Schnetz of 30 years, Barbara Schnetz and their five children: Wendy, Matt, John, Mark and Jill Schnetz and 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and his brother Earl A. Schnetz. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1952, Sacramento State College and Lincoln Law School. Karl enjoyed a law practice for more than 40 years in Newcastle, California and was the recipient of many honors including Lawyer of the Year in Placer County in 1988 for pro bono work helping the disadvantaged awarded by then Attorney General John Van de Camp. His career in law included many years of community service as a volunteer attorney for helping the Hispanic community. He was Alumnus of the Year at Lincoln Law School in Sacramento and President of the Placer County Bar. Prior to practicing law, Karl worked in the California State Legislature for 14 years.
