Keiko Arakawa (1930 - 2018)

  • "My condolences to the Arakawa family. May you find comfort..."

Keiko Arakawa, 88-years old, transitioned peacefully on May 7, 2018 following a brief illness with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born on February 11, 1930 in Korea. Her merchant family returned to Japan in 1945 where she lived until she met her future husband Akira Ronald Arakawa. She is survived by her husband of 54 years and daughter, Akiko (Lisa) Arakawa, grandson Conor Newman and sister Mutsuko Segawa. She was a proud U.S. Navy wife for 28 years (1964-1992) stationed in Lemoore, California; Atsugi, Yokohama and Misawa, Japan. Keiko loved to cook Japanese food for her family and friends, enjoyed clothes shopping (she was very stylish), traveling and going on cruises with her husband, and having lunch with her daughter. She was a huge sumo fan and her favorite holiday was New Year's and sharing her osechi ryori (traditional Japanese New Year food). She was very proud and close to her only grandson Conor. Private ceremony to be held at Northern California Koyasan Temple.
