Larry Martin Hershman, 71, of Sacramento died Oct. 19 following a brief battle with cancer. A native of Vallejo born Aug. 28, 1945, he was an accomplished long-haul truck driver who loved his job and the travel it entailed. He was a long-time resident of Sacramento who also was known as "Cherokee" and will be sorely missed by his many friends and loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Oneida Lant, 94, of Orangevale; close companion Gwen Mayse; daughters Rebecca Hershman-Palacio of Palmdale, Darla Hershman of Woodland Hills, and Airakee Anguiano and Karena Hershman of Sacramento; siblings Peggy Levein of Maple Valley, WA., Sharon Hausmann-Kretzer of Citrus Heights, Jolene Nolen of Vancouver, WA., and Ed Finley of Rio Linda; grandchildren Haley, Josh Jr. and Abel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hershman of Reno, NV. Memorial services will be held at noon Oct. 25 at the Roseville Church of Christ, 1799 Cirby Way, Roseville. Private inurnment will be at Mount Vernon Mortuary.
