Margaret Conway Obituary

Margaret Conway
October 2, 1942 - July 29, 2020
Sacramento, California - Peggy Conway was born an only child in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, to a loving family of merchants, farmers, and educators. She herself went into nursing, and was a proud graduate of the School of Nursing at the University of Michigan. Although she left the state after graduating, she always considered herself a Michigander, and spent Saturdays in the fall rooting the Wolverines to victory.
She started as an R.N. in New York City and eventually settled in Sacramento in the 1970s. She worked as an intensive care nurse in the cardiac unit at Mercy General Hospital for many years. A long-time resident of the Arden Park neighborhood, she was a friendly presence with a quick smile when walking one of many loving canine companions.
Peggy was a kind, loving and generous friend and while she never married or had children, she considered her friends and dogs her family. In addition to her love of animals, Peggy loved musical theater and opera, and maintained season subscriptions and memberships in many local cultural organizations.
She leaves behind many friends around the country, but especially in the Sacramento area. Her friends are holding a Celebration of Life in Sacramento on Saturday, May 22; for details, please e-mail [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, she would be happiest knowing that her friends donated in her memory to their local animal shelter.

Oh, Peggy, I finally found you! We were friends since your days in NY, when we worked together at New York Hospital. We would call each other every couple of years, and then suddenly I couldn't reach you. I tried your phone numerous times but there was no answer. You must have moved, maybe to a facility? But now at least I know you are gone. So sorry we weren't able to keep in touch your last years. You were a good friend! Barbara Topf Uziel
