Mona Janneice Blanford

  • "To the family of this beautiful Mona, my heartfelt..."

Born in Bakersfield, California to Harral and Verna Ward, Mona passed away peacefully in Orangevale, California. She leaves her sons, Matthew (Carolyn) and Michael (Ana); grandsons, Ryan and Nolan; mother, Verna; and sisters, Monica and Marla. Mona attended UC Davis in 1969 where she planned to earn her degree in Anthropology. It was at UC Davis that she met her future husband, Bob. They had many happy adventures during their forty-one-year marriage. Theirs was a true partnership and together they were founding members of the Walden Environment Family Services. In 1972, Mona began her career at the California Department of Justice in San Luis Obispo and retired as a database administrator and programmer in Sacramento, which included programming for the burgeoning new field of DNA Analysis. After a 36-year career, Mona retired and was able to enjoy mid-week 'dates' and weekend trips to northern and central California. She always acted with kindness, generosity, and integrity to others. She loved reading, gardening, had a prodigious memory and vocabulary and lived her life in a way that provided an example for her children to emulate. Her cooking and culinary skills were legendary in the family. She took special joy and pride in her two sons and as Grammy to Ryan and Nolan, referring to them as her "eenies". According to her wishes, there will be no services. Family will gather at the cemetery.
