Ronald Gary Findlay, of Placerville, Calif., born on June 4, 1942 in Bakersfield, Calif., to Beatrice Bagwell Findlay and Robert Morse Findlay, passed away at age 76 on Sept. 12, 2018 in Placerville, Calif. He graduated from Chico High School in 1960, and from Caltech in 1964. He was a man of few words and many interests and accomplishments. He was a Peace Corps volunteer, a pioneer in personal computer technology, and an electrical engineer with 48 years of employment at IBM, Quickturn, and Cadence Design Systems. He was also a photographer, a pianist, a music lover, a train enthusiast, an environmentalist, and a cat whisperer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Lynda Lou Findlay; son, Robert Loren Findlay; daughter, Karen Joy Burks; sister, Margaret Smith; mother-in-law, Doreen Phillips; and 8 grandchildren. Friends and family can pay their respects at the memorial service, officiated by Pastor Samuel Smith, on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Liberty Towers Church, 5132 Elkhorn Blvd., Sacramento, Calif., 95842. Flower deliveries will be received from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.; azaleas and other potted plants preferred by the family.
