Stuart Schlesinger Obituary

Stuart M. Schlesinger of Rocklin, CA, passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 86. Stuart was born to parents Martin and Vivian Schlesinger on September 8, 1932 in the Bronx, New York. He attended Long Island University in New York before enlisting in the United States Army, where he served in the Quartermaster Corps during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserves in 1960. After the War, he followed in his father's footsteps and was in the men's clothing business until his retirement. He married Frances Lynn Forman in 1962, and the couple had two children. They moved to Southern California in 1971, and remained married until Fran's death in 1990 from an aneurysm. Stuart relocated briefly to Las Vegas, Nevada, but returned to California to be closer to family members in the Sacramento area. A lifelong sports fan, Stuart could be found on Friday nights at regional high school football games, cheering on the local teams. Stuart is survived by his sons Mitchel Schlesinger of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and James Schlesinger of Rocklin, California, and four grandchildren. A cremation of the body was held during the week of January 7, 2019, with the family holding a private remembrance of Stuart's life. Stuart's ashes will be buried alongside his wife Fran's grave in Valencia, California soon after the cremation. The family is grateful for the condolences, and asks that any memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Stuart's name.
