Avid outdoorsman, beloved husband, father, teacher and coach, Tom Veatch died peace-fully with his wife and friend of 50 years by his side. He was a graduate of Norte del Rio high school, co-captain of the Sac-State football team, and a Galt High School Ag English teacher and football coach. He loved his students and players. A native Sacramentan, Veatch (as he was known by all) was passionate about teaching, food, fishing and hunting. His fall mornings were spent hunting ducks, pheasant and wild boar. His summers were spent fishing on the ocean from Alaska to Bodega Bay to Mexico. He leaves behind his wife Jackie Coppola, daughter Maggie Veatch (Lionel Ferly), son Tim Veatch (Jeriel Sydney), granddaughters Saylor Sydney-Veatch and Grace Ferly and sister Diana Veatch. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert. His generous and kind heart, adventurous soul, and shortcuts that added an exponential amount of time to any trip will be remembered by all who knew him. We love him and miss him terribly already. A tribute to his life will be held at Galt High School on Sunday April 29th at 11 am, 145 North Lincoln Way, Galt CA 95632. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Veatch Scholarship Fund at the above address. Checks can be made out to GHS ASB.
