Grace Fujii Obituary

Grace Yukiko Fujii
January 11, 1922 - December 24, 2020
Sacramento, California - Always with a smile, loving and gracious in life, Grace passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020 at age 98. Grace Yukiko (Nakano) Fujii was born to Jusaburo and Yutaka Nakano on January 11, 1922 in Mt View, CA. Her education at San Jose State was interrupted when her family was evacuated with other Americans of Japanese ancestry to Tule Lake Internment Camp where she married her only true love, Harry Fujii. Harry and Grace relocated to Heart Mountain camp, and after the war, moved to Chicago, and finally settled in Sacramento. Grace then worked for the State of California as a Senior Tax Representative.
Grace enjoyed travelling around the world, bowling, Tai chi, gardening, crafts which include embroidery, sumi-e silk art and quilting, and spending quality time with family on vacations and during the holidays.
She is survived by children: Linda (Bill Nagata), Brian (Karen) Fujii; grandchildren: Kristy (Kevin Murai), Cindy (Doug Ito), Mark (Joni) Nagata, Stephanie (Dan O'Neill), Tracy (Kenji Wakabayashi), Greg Fujii; great grandchildren Marisa, Matthew, Trina, Kimie, Luke Nagata; Megan, Lauren, Evan Murai, Emily, Allison, Amy Ito; Brooke, Kira O'Neill; Kayla, Dylan Wakabayashi.
Grace was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Harry, daughter Joan Sakata, brother Edward Nakano and sister Edith Hashimoto. The family thanks the exemplary care given her by Dr. Kelly Herbelin-Farrar, Sutter Hospice, and Comforts of Home assisted living. Donations on her behalf may be made to Parkview Presbyterian Church or ACC Senior Services.
