Alma Carrow Obituary

Alma Jewel Carrow

CHINA GROVE - Alma Jewel Carrow, 66, of China Grove, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at her residence after a long illness.

Mrs. Carrow was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Charleston, W.Va., to Thelma F. Dunbar Grubbs and Ozzie G. Grubbs. She was educated in Charleston, W.Va., schools and was a homemaker. Mrs Carrow was a member of Riverview Gospel Church in Charleston, W.Va.

Mrs. Carrow was preceded in death by a son, Teddy Carrow; brothers Franklin Grubbs, Claude Grubbs and David Grubbs; sister Mary Nutter; and a stepson, Charles Ames.

She is survived by sons Edward Lee Carrow, Jr. of China Grove, Terry Ervin Carrow of Columbus, Ohio, Larry Dale Carrow of Charleston, W.Va., Timothy Allen Ames of Rockwell; a daughter, Lori Ann Woolf of China Grove; and nine stepchildren, Larry Ames, Carol Ann Smith, Jerry Lee Ames, Susan Kay Ames, Diane Welch, Linda Bollenballs, Cindy Ames and Lisa Ames. Three brothers, Granville Grubbs, Douglas Grubbs and Carl A. Grubbs; four sisters, Dorothy Kelley, Brenda J. Facemyer, Wealtha Baldwin and Kay Campbell; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren also survive her.

Service: A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with burial in Dunbar Cemetery in Dunbar, W.Va.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
