Alice Mitchell Goodridge

Alice Mitchell Goodridge 1910 ~ 2008 Alice Mitchell Goodridge passed away Sept. 4, 2008, in Boise, Idaho. Alice was born September 2, 1910, in Sandy, Utah, and married James Willis Goodridge on March 18, 1941. They enjoyed 52 years together in their beautiful home in West Jordan, Utah. Alice worked as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney all of her adult life. She retired at 65 and went back to work part time for another ten years. Allie was a wonderful cook. She generously shared breads, puddings and goodies with her neighbors, friends and family, and was still taking dinner into the elderly when she was 90! She served valiantly as the compassionate service leader in her ward for numerous years, lifting the burdens or lightening the hearts of the individuals she served. She was a dear friend to so many. Allie was a gardener. She loved flowers! She enjoyed cultivating and planting every spring. The fruits of her labors were manifest throughout summer and into fall and she shared with everyone! She was full of spunk and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. After suffering from a fractured hip due to a fall in June of 2001, she moved to Boise where she was under the care of her niece, Susan VanderLinden. Allie spent the last four months in the home of her great nephew, Travis VanderLinden and his wife, Mari, a CNA. She enjoyed snuggles from Bella, their three-year-old daughter and Koko, their Pekinese. Although she didn't have any of her own, she loved children. She is survived by her nephew, Mel Maynes and his four children, Larry, Kelly, Wendy and Todd (their mother, Ardean Janssen); and niece, Susan VanderLinden and husband, Grant VanderLinden, Jr. and their children, Kimberly, Andrew, Heather, Ryan, Travis and Amy; also, 21 great-great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, with a viewing 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery
