Douglas Vearl Peterson

Douglas Vearl Peterson, 82, passed away of natural causes at his home in Herriman, Utah. Doug was born in Gunnison, Utah, the son of Vearl A. Peterson and Alda Metcalf Peterson. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High in 1951, joined the Army and graduated from Utah State University. He met and shortly after, married Donna Anderson in Las Vegas on May 18, 1970. They had two children, Erik and Nicole.
Doug, as a young man was involved in the family cattle and automobile business. Doug loved talking to people and selling cars, claiming to have sold his first car at age 3. He eventually bought the family Chevrolet dealership from his father in the 70's. He was proud of the dealership's success, once selling 1200 cars in a year while residing in a population base of 1000. In the mid 80's, Doug and his family moved to the Salt Lake City Area, where he excelled again at sales for the Jerry Seiner Dealerships. In his retirement, Doug enjoyed traveling with his wife. Once his wife passed away, he spent his time caring for his dogs, Kohl and Fifi and buying bulk quantities at Costco.
He is survived by his son, Erik D. Peterson and preceded in death by his daughter Nicole and his wife, Donna.
Doug's ashes will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Gunnison City Cemetery, on August 1, 2015. Friends and Family are welcome to gather at the graveside prior to the burial at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Utah Humane Society or a local pet shelter.
