John Galanis Obituary

John Nick Galanis 4/26/31 ~ 8/31/06 John Nick Galanis, age 75, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah August 31, 2006 due to complications from a stroke he suffered in 1993. John was born April 26, 1931 to Nick Galanis and Nora DeAngeles in Price, Utah. John attended Judge Memorial High school, served in the Army and later received a degree in Engineering from the Uni-versity of Utah. John married Dena Teseros October 2, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah and they raised three children together. He worked in Washington, DC for the General Services Administration and started and managed various businesses in the state of Utah and abroad, and also pioneered tire recycling in Utah. John was active in the Greek Orthodox community and served on the Parish Council of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church for several years. John is survived by his wife, Dena Galanis; children, GiGi (Mark) Bor-yla, Nick Galanis, and John Jr.; five grandchildren, Mark, Christina, Kelli and Jonathan Boryla, and Johnnie Galanis; one great-grandchild, Lukas Boryla. John is preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Nora Galanis; and his brother, Robert Galanis. Services will be held at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church September 6, 2006 at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call Tuesday September 5th between 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah with the Trisagion starting at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery following services Wednesday September 6th. The family would like to express their appreciation to Applegate Home Care and Hospice for all the excellent care and support they provided to John.
