REED WORKMAN Memoriam

Reed DeLoss Workman 1936 ~ 2010 Founder, President and CEO of Workman Construction Company. Owner of the Cal Bred Filly of the year for two years running, Cover Gal.Founder of the Sage Riders motorcycle club. Reed was an archer, he raced dirt motorcycles, raced quarter horses and thoroughbreds, bred and showed Arabian horses, road ATVs, gambled, raised hell and lived life to the fullest. Reed was exceedingly generous. He was known to give horses, cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, land, stock, board and room, trips and more to friends and family...freely...never looking for anything in return. He was loyal, thoughtful, loving, forgiving and kind. His handshake was an iron-clad contract, his word, golden. Reed was loved and respected by so so many. He was highly regarded in the construction industry for his honesty, integrity and quality of work. Horse people respected Reed in his eye for excellence, his dedicated care of the beautiful animals he owned, and generous dealings. Love for family and friends was boundless. He had great respect and cared a lot for brothers, Vern, Dean, Gary. His little sister, Nadine had a corner on his heart. Reed and Aisza, his youngest, became incredibly close. He said she was the gift that kept on giving referring to her children Braxton, Farrah, Blake and Preston who he spent endless hours with...who he adored and filled his heart with great love. Kevin, his son made him so very proud as he grew into a man with great integrity, an amazing capacity to embrace, love and care for his children, Taylor, Crystal, Erika and Maura. Anita, Reed's long lost daughter, returned into Reed's life as a great blessing. As for me, his wife, he was an awesome, exciting, and thoughtful lover. He was a ton of fun, kind, extremely smart, down-to-earth, stand-by-his-woman, best friend and comforter. He was more than I could have ever dreamed or hoped for as a husband and I miss him terribly.

To Nancy, Vern, Dean & Gary. I just learned of Reed's passing, and wanted to offer each of you my sincere condolences. I have very fond memories of being at Workman Construction for many years. You were all sorely missed when we had to uproot ourselves to Colorado. Reed was a especially awesome guy to work for, and will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, his love of life, and that great smile. Goodbye to a great employer and a good friend.

Sincerely, Cathy Hill

Dear Nancy,

Reading your memories and thoughts of Reed has brought a flood of tears and memories. Words can't really express how much he meant to me. When I was 11 years old and my Dad was taken suddenly, it was Reed who quietly stepped in and provided me with the most cherished memories of my life. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, I listened. His twinkling eyes always made me smile. I think of all the trips with you and Reed and the patience both of you had with me. I probably wasn't much help with the horses, but you both made me feel important, needed, and loved. I would have been lost if Reed hadn't taken the time to be my Dad. Thanks for sharing him with me.

love you.

Reed was a great, great man in so many ways. He gave me a huge helping hand in a time in my life when I really needed it and for that reason he will always be held in the highest regard in my life. Nancy I am so sorry for your loss. I was very touched by the words that you wrote, and I can tell you will miss him dearly. God bless.

Nancy, Vern, Dean and Gary,
I am extremely sad to hear of Reed's passing.
I was a recipient of his great kindness also. I worked for Workman Construction for a few years with my sister-in-law Cathy Hill. It was my favorite job of my whole life because of the wonderful Workman family.
I love you all and hope for your grief to be brief and the wonderful memories to last forever.
Sincerely,
Patricia Hill Peterson Atkinson

I am sad to hear about my friend, who I had a professional relationship with and through that he became my friend.
The Workman's and the Bowen's worked with, and to my knowledge still do with Salt Lake City Engineering. I was an employee with Salt Lake and worked with Reed for years. He was great, and I always missed working with him when he turned the company over to George. Great people, very charismatic. It was a pleasure that we crossed paths. Goodbye old friend.
Blessing to the family,
Russ Nunley
