Thomas Hatch Obituary

Thomas Robert Hatch 1945 ~ 2003  Thomas Robert Hatch, 58, of Vernal, UT died on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at his home in Vernal of cancer.  Born on August 28, 1945 in Bingham Canyon, UT to Gus L. and Patricia Mannion Hatch, he settled in Vernal in 1971 with his wife, Shelley C. Hatch. Tom served in the Utah National Guard, volunteered with the Uintah County Search and Rescue for 20 years, and was a biology technician for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Tom enjoyed outdoor life, which included his employment, white water rafting, both as a commercial and private boatman, hunting, hiking, artifact hunting and collecting. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Shelley; son, Robert of Vernal; daughter, Tess of Logan, UT; parents, Gus and Patricia Hatch of Shalimar, FL; sister, Julie (John) Harrison of Shalimar, FL; brother, Tracy (Brenda) Hatch of Tallahassee, FL; sisters-in law, Marilyn Pratt of Logan, UT; Tess (Larry) Kunz of Salt Lake City, UT; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Greg. Friends are invited to join the family Wednesday evening, November 26, 2003 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Vernal Elks Lodge for a time of celebration of Tom's life. Special thanks are extended to the nurses and nursing aides from Applegate Hospice for their care and kindness. Memorial arrangements were under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Huntsman Cancer Institute or the American Cancer Society.
