Betty Kruckenberg Obituary

Betty Lee Kruckenberg 1922 ~ 2008 Betty Lee Kruckenberg passed away suddenly Tuesday 12 August 2008 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born Betty Lee Dodrill to Iva May Avery Dodrill and Roy B. Dodrill in Hays, Kansas on 13 February 1922, Betty lived a full and rewarding 86 years. The youngest of five children, Betty was preceded in death by Roy Dodrill, Edward Dodrill, Ruth S. Dodrill Engelhardt and A. Eleanor Dodrill Ellis. Betty graduated from Loveland High School, Loveland, Colorado in June 1939, where she met her future husband, Ernest E. Kruckenberg. Betty and Ernest were married 6 June 1940 in Loveland, Colorado. Ernest preceded Betty in death on September 13, 1966. Betty is survived by her two loving sons, Alan Kruckenberg and Kenneth Kruckenberg. Five grandchildren, Cory Kruckenberg, Kelly Kruckenberg, Kristopher Kruckenberg, Jeff Kruckenberg and Matt Kruckenberg will also fondly remember Betty as Grandma "K". And, to other survivors not listed here, great-grandchildren, wives, extended family and in-laws the family expresses their thanks. Betty experienced much of what America has to offer. From her birth in Kansas, she lived in Colorado, Washington, California, Arizona and Utah. Betty also traveled widely in later life. Memorable of these trips was the trip to Hawaii in 1982 where she and her sisters valiantly tried body surfing while in their late 60's, resulting in broken bones and high sprits. Betty also traveled to Paris where the girl from Kansas discovered that Escargot were really snails, a big disappointment. Betty was the eternal optimist, facing the highs and lows of life with a quiet resolve that all who know her will remember well. She was caretaker to her sons and grandsons. While she left no buildings, homes or art for us to enjoy, she remains forever in our hearts. Funeral Services will be held Sat., 16 August 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive followed by the Burial Service at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 S. Memory Lane (1900 E). Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service.
