I'm sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. I was just a kid, a student of Gerry's way back in the 70's in Plainview NY. I spent many Tuesday nights in his basement, painting from live models, and soaking in what a real artist is like. He was an inspiration. So much so, that I followed in his footsteps and have been a painter and instructor for years. I still reference him as I tell my students when they ask if I approve- "Gerry would say '...fairly good!' "
Sorry I never got to reconnect. May his memory be a blessing.
my condolences to Carol and family

I´m sitting here looking at a painting I bought from Jerry many years back. He was at a street fair in Helper Utah drawing portraits. As I flipped through his many drawings stacked against the booth wall, my husband pointed out an incredible oil he´d painted in Saigon. Jerry told us his story of being a combat artist during Vietnam and he was surprised to see he had been carrying the painting around all these years. I had no money but was clearly moved by this painting. I offered to trade my Plymouth valiant for it and Jerry asked what I could afford monthly. We made a deal and he insisted I take the painting right then as he could see how important it was to me. That´s the Jerry I knew - and I paid him off after a year.

I'm sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. I saw him a few years ago after a long time of not having seen him. I happened to be framing the drawing he made at my orchestra rehearsal several years ago. Jerry was a great and caring friend and an incredible artist. My condolences to the family.
