March 20, 1926 - July 29, 2018
Bill, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully at the age of 92, in Helotes, Texas, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Ben J. Harwerth and Viola (Brooks) Harwerth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Ira (Saxon) Harwerth, his wife Hilda (Ortiz) Harwerth, and grandson, Gunnar Harwerth.
He graduated from San Diego High (California) in 1944 and enlisted in the Army (Air Corps). He moved to Laredo, TX, where he married Hilda and raised his sons. He owned and operated South Texas Roofing and Metal Works in Laredo for nearly 30 years.
Bill is survived by: Bill's son Lance Harwerth, (wife) Patricia, (children) Madeline (Harwerth) Duncan, Hannah, Nathan, and Jessica; Bill's son Curt Harwerth, (wife) Irene, (children) Grant, Kirsten, and Griffin; and Bill's sister Elizabeth Noel Harwerth and (husband) Seth Melhado.
The family thanks the wonderful people at Honey's House of Helotes for their compassionate care. Services with military honors, will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter 1, on Friday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. An online guestbook may be signed at: www.sunsetnw

I'm sorry for your loss of William. I'm sure your hearts are heavy at this time. May the " God of all comfort" bring comfort to your family (2 Cor 1:3). He will be at rest and in God's memory.
