BURKHART
Maj. Gen. John W. "Bud" Burkhart, (USAF Retired), age 90, of Air Force Village II, San Antonio, passed away Jan. 12, 2013. He was born May 25, 1922 in Connellsville, PA to the late John F. and Martha Wandle Burkhart. Bud was a 1940 graduate of Monessen High School in Monessen, PA. He was a Master Mason, Rotarian, and Daedelians. Maj. Gen. Burkhart served his country in the U.S. Air Force for over 30 years, and was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Bud married Joann Price on Aug. 18, 1946 in Long Beach, CA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joann Price Burkhart; sister, Margaret Caldwell and Lorraine Piacinza, and Thelma Maund. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Terry A. and Virginia Burkhart of Tulsa, OK, Barbara and William Tooker of Tampa, FL, and Tracy and Chris Ball of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Stacy and Darryl Breznia, Britney Marbarger, Angela and David Magrisso, Ryan and Sara Tooker, Bailie Boyd, and Christopher Ball; great grandchildren, Bryan Breznia, Myles Marbarger, Brooke Breznia, Mia Magrisso, Sienna Magrisso, and Peyton Tooker. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Graveside Service and Interment will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. A Memorial Service will be also be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Air Force Village II Chapel. So very sorry to here of Bud's passing. He was such a great man. He and his wife were only in our area and church a short time, but they became some of my favorite people. Iknow his family will miss him so much. I knew we did after they moved and loved it when they came back to visit. My deepest sympathy to the family.
