Nicholas Rossi was called to his heavenly home on July 6, 2018. His lifelong career in music began just before WWII. Having performed with the National Air Force, Air Force Academy, and NORAD bands, Nick retired from the U.S.A.F. as Master Sergeant in 1962. After earning his master's degree from University of Colorado, his work included: freelancing in California, teaching music in Colorado public schools, coordinator for Arts and Humanities at Colorado College, principal trombonist and personnel manager of San Antonio Symphony (1969-92). In retirement, he continued playing trombone with Roaring Twenties Dance Band and in church worship services. His favorite performances were of playing beautiful, old, favorite tunes to appreciative audiences until age 84.
A visitation will be held on July 13th at 1:30 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in San Antonio, followed by a celebration of Christ in his life at 2:00. Internment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Pavilion 2 at 11:15 July 17th.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane, their daughter, Nina (William) with four grandchildren in Wyoming, and his two sons, Nicholas (Mary) and William (Serenity) Rossi in Colorado.

To Jane and family. Our sincere sympathy to you all, in the loss of your dear Nicholas.
It must be with great pride to have shared his successes in his accomplishments, and both of you being so talented.
I will always remember his playing with the symphony and especially so very thankful and appreciative of your patience in teaching Larry when he was in High School. His love of music continues to this day.
Jane may you find peace and may God bless you and your family. You are all remembered with fondness.
Betty Ludwig and Larry Ludwig, San Antonio.
