Edward Busheme Obituary

May 11, 1925 - December 13, 2017
Edward S. Busheme (92) passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. He is survived by his sons: Edward S. Busheme, Jr. (Heath, TX); David Busheme and wife, Janet (Daytona Beach, FL); and Daniel J. Busheme and wife, Diana (Hilo, HI). Also two grandchildren: Christine Busheme and husband, Brian Burmeister (Orlando, FL), and Stephen Busheme and wife, Alexandra (New York, NY); and two great grandchildren, along with the many wonderful friends and neighbors at Blue Skies of Texas.

Born May 11, 1925, in New Britain, Connecticut, Ed was the 6th of 10 children in the family of Paulo and Rosa Bordieri Busheme.

Ed graduated from Dorchester High School in Massachusetts, class of '43. He immediately joined the war effort via the U.S. Army Air Corps aviation cadet program and earned his pilot's wings in 1944. He was training as a B-29 pilot in Roswell, New Mexico, when World War II ended in 1945. Ed elected to stay in the Army during the postwar military drawdown, but left active service in 1947 to attend college while remaining in the Air Force Reserves.

Ed completed his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire in June 1952. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Marjorie Teresa Gaquin, while on vacation at Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, in the summer of 1953. They were married in Avon, Massachusetts, on September 4, 1954, raised three sons, and remained at each other's side until her passing in March of 2017.

Between 1952 and 1960, Ed worked as a designer and engineer on bridges, buildings, and road construction projects throughout the northeast. He returned to active duty in the Air Force as a captain in 1960 and completed assignments as a civil engineer at bases in Germany, Montana, Turkey, the Philippines, Thailand, Texas, and Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base in 1976 as a major with 20 years of active military service. He began work for the San Antonio City Water Board in early 1977 and continued to retirement in May 1987.

Ed and Marge remained in the San Antonio area after retiring and moved to Air Force Village II (now Blue Skies of Texas - West) in May 1997.

Eddy, I'm sorry this is my first time learning of your parents death. Had I known at the time, I would have sent my love and condolences. I had always hoped they would have been mine also.
They will never be forgotten nor will you.
