Almalu Barber went to meet her Lord September 4, 2018. She was born in Santa Rosa, Texas, September 21, 1934 to William and Thelma Barnett. Almalu was raised in large family who loved performing Christian music. This lifelong passion led her to serve as music minister in several churches. As a graduate of Tarleton State University she taught for 26 years. Even with all of her accomplishments there was nothing that brought her more joy than family.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Chaplain Charles Barber (COL), USAR retired. Sons: Donald (Janice), Richard (Nora), Russel (Valerie). Grandchildren: David (Denise), Rachel (Ben), Jonathan, Aaron (Natalia), Phillip, Jacob (Jennifer), Caleb (Liz), Loralie (Chris) and 8 great-granddaughters. Sister, Elizabeth Lively, Aunt, Jean Jordan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation- September 13, 2018 6:00-8:00 pm., Sunset NW Funeral Home. Memorial Service- September 14, 2018, 1:00 pm, Crossroads Baptist Church. Graveside for family at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Sunny Glen Children's Home, San Benito, TX.
