Donald Snowden Obituary

Donald Linn Snowden was born on February 28, 1921 in McAllen, TX and passed away on Friday, November 4, 2005 at the age of 84. Don grew up in the Rio Grande Valley where he graduated from Harlingen High School in the class of 1941. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and Korea. He was a retail marketer for the Gulf Oil Corporation for 30 years and a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 45 years, serving as a Life Deacon. Preceding him in death were his parents, Col. F.E. and Mable Snowden of Harlingen, TX. Surviving are his wife, Coda M. Snowden of San Antonio; daughter, Dru Childs and her husband, Mark of Beeville, TX; son, Dr. Toby Snowden and his wife, Ellen of Cedar Hill, TX; grandchildren, Amy and Colton Childs of Beeville, TX, Christine, Jimmy Don and and Mary Helen Snowden of Cedar Hill, TX; sisters, Janice Brauer of Haven, KS, Pat Wilson of Rio Hondo, TX and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with Military Honors. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, Dr. Toby Snowden, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Texas Children's Home, P.O. Box 13, Pettus, TX 78146. Sunset Funeral Home.
