October 13, 1924 - July 10, 2018
Emma Kotara, a life-long resident of Falls City passed away on July 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Emma was born on October 13, 1924 to Louis and Rosie Rapstine on the family farm outside of Falls City, Texas. She attended school in a nearby one room school house. She met and married the love of her life, Leonard Kotara, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church on January 21, 1947.

Emma was a CNA at John Paul Nursing home for many years. For 30 years, she and Leonard enjoyed delivering the SA Express News to almost everyone in Falls City and the surrounding area.

Emma was a great cook, making almost all meals from scratch using her own vegetables and meat that she and Leonard harvested. She was also known for her fabulous desserts and fried chicken.

Emma was a devout catholic, a true woman of faith, and a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

Emma loved her family very much, and will be deeply missed by all.

Emma is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Leonard Kotara, granddaughter Dayna Wiatrek, daughter-in-law Laurie Kotara, and great granddaughter Jordan Kotara as well as all of her siblings.

Emma is survived by her children: Walter (Gloria) Kotara of Buda, Tx, Francis (Pam) Kotara of Adkins, Tx, Mary (Greg) Wiatrek of Gillet, Tx, Donny Kotara of Falls City, Tx, Sharalyn (Cliff) Shelton of San Antonio Tx, Randy Kotara of Falls City, Tx, Norleen (Jay) Newberry of Kenedy, Tx, and Sheldon (Angela) Kotara of Floresville, Tx. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation from on Thursday, July 12th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm that evening. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 13th at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Falls City Cemetery.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Cason Newberry, Quest Newberry, Sean Wiatrek, Duane Kotara, Kevin Kotara, Scott Kotara, Charles Shelton, and Glenn Shelton.
