Jerome Louis "Tex" Radtke Obituary
October 19, 1939 - November 24, 2018
Jerome "Tex" Louis Radtke, 79, was an exceptionally smart, loving and overall wonderful man who was born on October 19, 1939 in New Berlin, Texas and passed away November 24, 2018 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jerome loved fishing, boats, and politics. He would talk to anyone about anything and always found a way to have a good time anywhere he went. He made devoted friends easily and was the life of every party.
Jerome was taught his primary school years in a one room school house and later graduated from Seguin High School with the Class of 1958. Jerome enjoyed playing football and went by the nickname "Rock". Jerome then went on to serve his country with honor for almost 3 years in the Army and finished with the rank SP4 E-4 (T). After returning from overseas, Jerome went on to earn his Associates in Science degree in Finance at La Guardia Community College in 1977. Jerome, or Jerry as he was also known, worked in the export field for 16 years. In those years he was employed for 8 years at the International Paper Company as a Regional Supervisor and also worked for Philipp Brothers, United Sates Lines, and Texas Transport & Terminals Inc. While in New York, Jerome fell in love and married Barbra Blazejewski and had a daughter Jennifer Radtke. He enjoyed spending time in his upstate property with his family and friends and was also part of church theatre groups where Jerome made many close friends who he considered family and stayed in contact with them throughout his lifetime. After about 20 years, Jerome moved back to Texas to help his ill brother, Vernon, and then remained in Texas for many years. Jerome eventually remarried to Georgene Hall and acquired 2 step-children, Cassandra Hall and David Hall. Jerome worked for the City of Converse Water Department in Converse, Texas for many years and was recognized for his lengthy service at his retirement. After many years, Jerome moved out to Florida to live closer to family and the ocean and stayed there for the rest of his years. He spent most of his time rebuilding a boat, fishing, and enjoying the Florida weather.
Jerome was preceded in death by his mother Hulda Radtke and father Harry Radtke; his 2 older brothers Vernon Radtke and William Radtke; his ex-wife Barbara Radtke; and was widowed by his wife Georgene Hall-Radtke. Jerome is survived by his daughter Jennifer Kelly and her husband Owen Kelly; his step-daughter Cassandra Hall and her husband Jason Rosenhaus; his step-son David Hall ; his grandchildren Aubrey Rosenhaus, Bronson Rosenhaus, and Colton Rosenhaus; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses and families; and many loving friends and neighbors from many different states. Jerome was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
