John Pena Montez born on December 4, 1963 passed away at the age of 57 on March 26, 2021.

May you rest in peace in the comforting arms of your Lord and Savior who formed you from the dust of the earth and to God be the glory.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents Rodolfo Daniel Montez and Virginia Pena Montez along with his sister Virginia Estelle Montez; Also, by his paternal and maternal grandparents Jose and Natalia Montez, and, Ramon and Dolores Pena.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Ann Sanchez, ex-wife Dolores G. Montez, children, Virginia Mares, (Sergio Mares), Fatima Montez, Mary Montez, John Montez Jr., Raphael Montez, Daymand Morin, Juan Sanchez & Agustin Sanchez; Granddaughters Angel & Lucia Mares. He also leaves behind his siblings Debra Montez Felder, Rodolfo "Rudy" P. Montez, Carol M. Ramirez, Joseph P. Montez, Noel P. Montez, Jacqueline Grace Montez, Monica M. Baldazo, numerous nieces, Nephews, and great friends. John graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1982 and was active in school athletics especially football. He proudly served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge after 4 years of service. He loved to dance and was a loving, kind, sensitive, caring person. John, who kept us all rolling in laughter at family gatherings, has left this world too soon. His capacity for creating fun and laughs will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Memory of John Pena Montez to St. James Catholic Church General Fund. 907 W. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00 with a rosary to begin at 6:00p.m. at Alamo Funeral Home, 624 N. Alamo, San Antonio, Texas 78215.

John was my childhood friend and did me the honor of accompanying me to two weddings. I will miss his laughter and the talks that we had about our families and his children. May He Rest In Peace and May The Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him Until We Meet Again
