Louis Jimenez

1919 - 2019 Obituary Condolences
June 21, 1919 - December 31, 2018
Louis Jimenez went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 21, 1919 in San Antonio, to Pedro Jimenez and Margarita Martinez Jimenez. Louis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ofelia Guerra Jimenez; his son, Little Ruben; sisters, Tomasa Guerra, Romana Sanchez, Rosa Saenz, Josefina J. Flores; and brother, Francisco Jimenez. He is survived by his daughter, Dora Jimenez; sons, Ruben Jimenez, Roy Jimenez, Ray Jimenez (Rosemary), Robert Jimenez (Barry Manasse); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was an exemplary model in all of his roles: as a husband, father, brother, uncle, citizen, soldier, and friend, to name a few. He volunteered for the army in 1940 and was initially stationed in Brownsville, Texas. His service was extended five more years when the U.S. entered World War II. Among several commendations for his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his participation in the India-Burma operations which successfully freed the Burma Road from Japanese occupation. In December 1946, he married the love of his life, Ofelia Guerra who had patiently waited for him the duration of the war. Throughout his life, he strove to give his children advantages he never had. He was a model U.S. Postal employee for 35 years, an active member of school and church organizations such as the P.T.A, Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. He was truly an "anchor" with a tireless work ethic, a thirst for knowledge and a kind heart, an infectious wit and sense of humor. He will be truly missed by anyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 beginning at 5:00pm, with a Rosary recited at 6:00pm at Mission Concepcion Catholic Church (807 Mission Road).
